Your privacy matters — especially because our users are young. This Privacy Policy explains how TeenWurk, Inc. ("TeenWurk," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the TeenWurk mobile app, website, and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.
01Information We Collect
We collect only what we need to connect young job seekers with age-appropriate, legally compliant work opportunities.
Information you provide
- Account details: name, email address, date of birth (used to verify age and enforce labor-law eligibility), and the U.S. state you live in.
- Profile & resume: skills, availability, work history, education, and any information you add to your TeenWurk profile or resume builder.
- Applications & messages: job applications you submit and messages you exchange with employers or with the Wurk AI coach.
- Optional media: a profile photo, if you choose to add one.
Information collected automatically
- Device & usage data: device type, operating system, app version, and how you interact with the Service (used for reliability, security, and analytics).
- Approximate location: with your permission, we use device location to show jobs near you and estimate commute distance. You can turn this off in your device settings at any time.
- Diagnostics: crash reports and performance data to keep the app working.
02How We Use Information
We use your information to:
- Create and secure your account and verify your age and work eligibility;
- Show you jobs you are legally permitted to work based on your age and state;
- Let you build a profile/resume, apply to jobs, and communicate with employers;
- Power the Wurk AI coach for resume feedback, interview prep, and career guidance;
- Send service-related notifications (e.g., application updates);
- Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and safety issues;
- Comply with legal obligations, including child-labor and privacy laws.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not serve behavioral advertising to users we know to be under 18.
03How We Share Information
- With employers you choose to apply to — they receive the profile and application details you submit.
- With service providers who process data on our behalf (e.g., cloud hosting, authentication, crash reporting, email delivery) under contracts that require them to protect your data and use it only for us.
- For legal reasons — to comply with the law, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights and safety of users and the public.
- In a business transfer — if TeenWurk is involved in a merger or acquisition, subject to this Policy.
We never sell the personal information of minors, and we never share it for third-party advertising.
04Sign-In & Social Login
You can create an account with your email or by using Apple, Google, or Facebook sign-in. When you sign in with a third party, we receive only your basic profile (typically your name and email) as authorized by that provider — we never receive your password. We use this information solely to create and secure your account.
If you signed up with Facebook and want your data removed, see our Data Deletion instructions.
Children & Teens
TeenWurk is built for young job seekers, and we take the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA") seriously.
- We do not allow children under 13 on TeenWurk. The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we delete it promptly.
- The minimum age to hold a TeenWurk account is 14. Where required by law, users under the applicable age of digital consent must have verifiable parental consent before an account is fully activated, and a parent may review, request deletion of, or refuse further collection of their child's information at any time.
- We collect from minors only the information reasonably needed to provide the Service, and we never condition participation on disclosing more than is necessary.
- We do not knowingly serve targeted advertising to minors or sell their personal information.
- Parents and guardians can contact us at privacy@teenwurk.com to exercise these rights. If we learn we have collected information from a child in a manner inconsistent with COPPA, we will delete it promptly.
06Data Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and continuous monitoring. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to safeguard your data and will notify affected users and regulators of a breach as required by law.
07Data Retention & Deletion
We keep your information only as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service and meet legal obligations. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within 30 days, except where we must retain limited records to comply with the law. You can delete your account in the app under Settings → Account → Delete Account, or follow our Data Deletion instructions.
08Your Rights & Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@teenwurk.com. You can also manage notifications and location permissions in your device settings.
09California Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. TeenWurk does not sell or share personal information, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. Submit a request at privacy@teenwurk.com.
10Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email and update the "Last Updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Policy.
